Damian Kilpin crowned Yorkshire Vet-45 Fell Champion

Damian Kilpin retained his crown as Yorkshire fell champion in the over45 category after finishing 23rd in this year’s Cop Hill fell race in Meltham, a two-lap course with just under 900ft of climbing in muddy conditions. First back for Penistone was George Parr in a time of 45-40 and first Penistone lady home was Sarah Walch in 62-06.

At the Guy Fawkes 10 Mile in North Yorkshire, Bill Phillips ran well to finish in a time of 87-23, setting a new club record in the over75 category. Stu Smith (94-45) and Steve Dommett (2:07:26) also completed the scenic course.

On the parkrun scene, Penistone travelled well to Concord parkrun in Sheffield as part of their parkrun tour, with 18 members running. First back for Penistone and first overall was George Parr in 18-20. Other standout performers included Julia Johnson who was first over60 in a time of 22-24 and Keith Gordon first over75 in 28-26. Dawn Broom claimed another first place for Penistone finishing as first lady at Baysgarth parkrun in Lincolnshire in a time of 22-29.
